## Canonical definition

Responsibility Infrastructure is a La Touche-originated open constitutional framework for making responsibility explicit, attributable, evidenced and independently reconstructable across organisations and systems. It standardises the minimum constitutional meaning and record conditions required for responsibility to remain interpretable when work, authority or reliance crosses an organisational or system boundary.

## Problem and outcome

Organisations can connect systems while responsibility still fragments across messages, approvals, logs, meetings and disconnected records. Responsibility Infrastructure exists so an independent party can reconstruct what responsibility existed, who held it, under what authority, what was accepted, what evidence exists and what outcome was established.

## Current institutional structure

- Responsibility Infrastructure Foundation Limited, company number 17410628, was incorporated in 2026 as a private company limited by guarantee without share capital. It is the institutional home for public-interest stewardship, participation, consultation and long-term framework governance functions assigned to it.
- La Touche Academy Ltd publishes the current Responsibility Infrastructure publication set.
- La Touche Infrastructure Ltd develops commercial implementation systems, infrastructure and services for organisations applying Responsibility Infrastructure.
- La Touche Holdings Ltd owns and administers La Touche-held intellectual property and trade mark rights. It is not a public Contact route on the Responsibility Infrastructure website.
- Trade mark ownership is not the source of constitutional authority.

## Implementation neutrality

Responsibility Infrastructure standardises responsibility meaning and interoperability, not a technology stack.

Responsibility Infrastructure does not require:

- a La Touche API or any particular API architecture;
- JSON, XML or another mandatory data format;
- cryptographic signatures or a prescribed key infrastructure;
- blockchain, distributed ledgers or immutable databases;
- a particular database, storage technology or software stack;
- a particular user interface, workflow engine or runtime design;
- an independent registrar model.

A conforming implementation must preserve the required constitutional meaning and make the minimum Responsibility Record independently reconstructable and interpretable across a boundary.

## Current limitations and non-claims

- Independent implementation testing has not yet been completed.
- Cross-system interoperability has not yet been demonstrated.
- No independently constituted Recognition authority or general external Registry intake process is currently operational unless a specific published programme expressly states otherwise.
- Publication does not itself establish independent approval, certification, accreditation, regulatory adoption, recognised standing, statutory authority or permission for external reliance.
- Foundation incorporation does not by itself establish independently governed Verification, Recognition, Registry or accreditation functions.
